Langkawi Island, Pantai Cenang Beach, Malaysia

Langkawi Island, Pantai Cenang Beach, Malaysia
On a super fast ferry to Langkawi from Penang/Georgetown. Heading from one island to another island, now arriving at pier one needs a ride to Cenang beach as this appears to be where the hostels are and tourist spot. It will cost 30RM if solo travel or shared will cost 12RM.
When I was dropped off I was told to walk down the street and many hostels, prices were between 20-80 RM a night, I found a place for 25 a night, no hot water, toilet paper, air con, but instead a fan room, so just very basic it is at the Muay Thai Club for kickboxing and works within the budget, and with it being so hot here cold showers works fine and spray hose instead of toilet paper works for me too. I was offered a private room with a double or queen bed, air con., hot showers the works for only 50RM/night about $15. CAD, so there are deals to be found.
Now this morning I was in search of a cheap meal found a few places that were reasonable at the local Indian or Malayan eateries and many others serving the tourists at much higher rates.
If someone were to do an investigative story on a local business in Langkawi on a barber and his barbershop as to how he can charge and/or ask for 400RM/hour ($120.CAD) to cut and or shave hair, as this is extraordinarily wages to earn, thus would be a great success story to share so tourists would know more positive stories of Langkawi. Unfortunately with a little investigation one will quickly find out that the Arabian barber cutting and shaving hair at Arabisk Salon/ Barbershop is getting lots of money for what he does but just not the honest and honourable way, he does so by lying and stealing money from his customers after giving the haircuts or shave. He does not seem to care of stealing money or overcharging extravagantly as I have been told he has a continuous supply of tourist customers that are unaware of his deceitful practices. So tourist and travellers please avoid getting haircut or shaves by the Arab barber at Arabisk Salon as he will ask for more after agreed price and charge twice as much as he did with me, leaving a bad taste in my mouth being ripped off by a barber that stole my money, not good business practices by this Arab and a fool for being ignorant by not having repeat customers, only to have customers that will never give him business again, a fool indeed.
Again taking another walk down the main drag so to speak, many restaurants and eateries, one after another serving Indian, Thai, Western, Mexican, Oriental, Italian, Malay, Turkish, and many seafood restaurants serving live seafoods. There’s one restaurant called ‘Banana Leaf’/India Gate serving Chinese, Malay, Western, Mexican, Indian, & Pure Vegetarian Cuisine. Then there’s the North American fast food outlets McDonalds, KFC, Subway, Starbucks, Pizza Hut. There’s also many, many accommodations to choose from, hostels, motels and hotels, there’s mini stores, street clothing outlets, a mall, and a Underwater World, which is an aquarium attraction. There are duty free stores, Turkish & Arabic Market, Spas, full body Massages for 70RM/hr., and Reflexology services, souvenir shops, laundry services, a tailor shop, and Tourist Services for scuba diving, island hopping, parasailing, snorkelling, jet ski rental, waterski, tours to Mangrove forest and more, car rental@80RM/day,($24.CAD) money exchangers, ferry, bus and flight ticket services, so much to offer to the tourists and travellers visiting Cenang Beach on Langkawi Island.
During my visit here there is construction going on, parts of the sidewalks being replaced by colourful patio style blocks to smooth flat pale grey sidewalk that looks much cleaner and wider. Parts of the roadway also being replaced, small shops being dismantled, and new buildings under construction so the main artery is very busy with construction and improvements going on.
I am just visiting one part of this island, the Cenang Beach area, as this is the tourists hot spot, there are other places to visit on this island to see other attractions such as the Thai Buddhist Temple, Cave of Bats, Durian Perangin Waterfalls, Seven Wells Waterfalls, Field of Burnt Rice, Cable Cars, Mount Mat Cincang, and the Crocodile Farm. Also still a number of beaches and nearby islands, hence the island hopping tours.
Now taking a walk on the white sandy clean beach there are many big shade umbrellas everywhere along with wooden lawn chairs, many jet ski’s on the beach and on the waters, off in the distance parasailing happening, tanned bronze bodies all wet in the water and on the beach, and I could not help notice some of the beautiful bikini outfits especially the ones that show the ass cheeks because the thin string part is buried into the crack of the buttocks being used liken to dental floss thus exposing the entire beautiful ass, thank you ladies, as I believe if your a young gal that does squats then you have the privilege to show off the results. Many palm and coconut trees along with other green trees align the entire length of the beach, the water appears to be clean making for a very beautiful and tropical beach photo, such as the ones in the travel magazines.
I treated myself to some hand made ice cream, which was made with milk or cream and fruit of your choice, it was chopped and blended together on a very flat smooth and frozen metal, then smoothed out thin, and finally rolled into a few rolls, put into a cup with a little fruit for topping, very cool and tasty too.
Langkawi Island, especially the tourist hotspot of Pantai Cenang Beach is very tropical with greenery, having many coconut, palm, and banana trees for that tropical look, but the mountains are all green with trees, many trees everywhere, and lush grassy fields for cows to graze in. Being an island there are many beaches to visit, and people here are pretty laid back and traffic is easy going, doesn’t seem to be congested as some of the small cities I’ve been too. It appears to be a very relaxing, peaceful island to get away to enjoy the beach, sunshine and very good authentic foods from around the world to eat and enjoy very much. I enjoyed the stay here.
