Kuantan, Malaysia
Kuantan, Malaysia May 2nd – 4th 2017
I bussed it to Kuantan which is on the east coast of Malaysia for a break from where I am staying/living here at Disiniland. I met a Facebook friend there who showed me around acting as a tour guide. Right in the heart of Kuantan was the striking view of State Mosque – Sultan Ahmad 1, at night all lit up looks beautiful.
I was taken to three different beaches, the first beach looking like it was the most popular for tourists as it had a few of the North American fast food resttaraunts such as KFC, Subway, and McDonalds, this beach was called “Teluk Chempedak”, the other two beaches I went to were called “Black Stone” and “Sepat Beach”, now Sepat Beach was more of a fishing beach and it had the most litter along the beach sand, although some parts were being cleaned up of litter, there was still much long portions of the beach with lots of litter. I think the first beach I went to was the one well maintained for cleaning up litter and the one beach that looked very nice to enjoy the surrounding beauty and to relax and sunbath with having eateries available for food and drinks.
Then I visited a old mining town which I found the old houses very cool having much character and some colourful the town and/or mine was called “Sungai Lembing” I was told by the so called tourist guide showing me these areas that I was visiting that this mine was the largest and deepest in the world, when we asked questions at the ticket counter it takes 45 minutes to go down this mine for viewing. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sungai_Lembing While there I did go to the Muzium Sungai Lembing which is a tin mining museum, there was a view in the distant looking at the side of the mountain where a couple of cementary’s where.
The drive back to Kuantan from Sungai Lembing Mine/town we stopped at a cave which is a striking mountain to look at from the roadway, it apparently has a cave there called the “Gua Charas Cave” we did not go into the cave
I also had the pleasure of visiting a Royal Town where they have Horse Polo and this town is called “Pecan”, beside the Horse Polo track and stables was The Sultan Abu Bakar Palace, I did visit The Sultan Abu Bakar Museum.
