Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia
Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia March 19 – 29 2017
Arrived in Kuala Lumpur Sunday evening at 7:30 from a 35 hour excursion from Phuket, Thailand.
That was a long trip mainly by bus, I think I would have preferred a flight instead.
Now that I am back here in KL, I retrieved my camera from DHL Express as they could not deliver to recipient in Canada thus took my money and made me come back here to pick it up, now I am sending came into an authorized repair shop here and need to wait a week I suppose. In the meantime I am using another camera to take photos of this area that I missed taking the first time being in this area. Back at the same accommodations for me being at Suzie’s Guesthouse, as I was going to check out Mingle’s that another suggested to me but there was no available accommodations. I feel comfortable at Suzie’s and the location is just so perfect being close to the transit systems.
Well I stayed another 9 days in KL, this time I had a camera with me to take photos of everything I missed taking photos of the first visit here, in fact I am travelling with two cameras now. I went back to the free venue of the Cultural Dance Performance at the Magic Centre which is also the Ministry of Tourism and Culture Malaysia. I was at the KLLC Park again for a couple of times with both cameras photographing the park, the architectures, skyline and the children play area with swimming pool and water falls.
I went to the Batu Caves for the first time to see monkeys and walk 272 stairs into the cave high above where most of the monkeys were, and many Hindu statues and temples also. Before one starts to climb all the stairs, one will immediately notice the world’s largest statue of Hindu deity Murugan beside the 272 stair climb of penance to the sacred limestone caves and temples. I have read while an excellent attraction all year round, it’s not to be missed during January’s Thaipusam Festival. So full-on that it’s even banned in the Hindu homeland of India, this body-piercing, trance-inducing ritual will have you in awe of the power of the human mind.
I did travel to the Eco Bird Park, there is some very nice scenery around the small lake with high-rises in the background, beautiful trees and many birds flying around. The walk for me took sometime as there was a lot of ground to cover, from the lake up to and around the bird enclosure, into the (flower park), and there is also a Butterfly sanctuary which is a fee of RM25 and for the bird visit it was about RM65 I believe.
Also not too far from the Petrona Twin Towers in the evening there is a food truck park for your urban street dining called Tapak, about 20 food trucks serving up a variety of food and drinks, it even appeared that one food truck made available the Shish pipe for one’s smoking pleasure.
Batu Karau outside of Taiping and at Telok Setang/Disiniland theme park/nature resort March 29th –
Well more than 5 months of travelling and the budget that I had planned is not working so well as I have been spending much more than expected. So now I need to learn to travel cheaper, save money or earn some money to refill pockets in order to travel to other destinations that I wish to explore. So for now I have been offered a place to stay and for me to save and earn a few dollars in exchange for helping out at this future resort to get it going and off the ground for tourists to start to visit, thus it is exciting as I am at the beginning stages of this venture starting to open for the public, travellers and tourists to visit, explore and have fun. There is much work to do around here and I am sure I will be kept busy and learning much.
So for all you travellers visiting Malaysia, I do suggest Kuala Lumpur because of its diversified culture and international food cuisines, the architectures and for a city it is still very reasonably cost affordable.
Then if your travels include heading north to Thailand or elsewhere do stop into Taiping as it is diversified with the Muslim Malay, Indian and Chinese cultures, and has much history as I have already written about. Then about a half hour away towards Batu Karau ask for directions to Disiniland and chances are you can meet with me. If not Penang/Georgetown is a place to visit if you love foods and enjoy eating, because you can eat just about anything your heart desires here. Langkawi is a very nice tourist hot spot beach having a few of these duty free shops. If you really want to stay at beaches and explore such, then it is the east coast to travel up along as you go north from KL, such as Pulau Redang Island and there are many more as I have been told and much better for beaches than the west coast. If you enjoy the beaches then in Phuket Thailand area, being at Patong beach its a very tourist hot spot, beaches and sunshine during the day and party nightlife all night long, and many more beaches surrounding this area to visit during the day, the beaches are beautiful and plentiful for beach bums and sunbathers.
